Los Angeles Multi-Person Dishes Worth Seeking

GUIDE CONTINUED FROM PREVIOUS PAGE

Wintertime in L.A. means shorter days that are just cool enough to call for a warming beer and a huge slab of meat to brighten your evening. Since dinner in this great food city isn’t complete without at least one equally hungry dining partner, what could be better than giving these slightly colder L.A. denizens a gigantic dish that feeds more than one person? Scroll down to discover 10 hotspots that serve top Los Angeles multi-person dishes, listed alphabetically.

Harold and Belle’s // Whole Fried Chicken // $28

In the middle of Jefferson Park you’ll find L.A.’s best creole cooking, brought to you from Legaux family recipes. You’ll eat such French Quarter classics as gumbo, po’ boys, and fried seafood. If your table likes to share, spring for the whole Southern fried chicken.

NIGHT + MARKET // Whole Fish // MP

Chef Kris Yenbamroong hits West Hollywood’s Sunset Strip with flavorful northern Thai street food, making NIGHT + MARKET one of L.A.’s best Thai restaurants. The whole fish (normally a white fish like striped bass or snapper) is not only delicious, but it’s available either salt-crusted or sam-rod (fried) and fun to share.

Republique // Cote de Boeuf // $125

Republique, newly opened in 2013, comes from partners Bill Chait and the husband and wife team of Walter and Margarita Manzke. The bistro and bakery took over Campanile’s Mid-City spot on La Brea. With Walter’s pedigree, it’s no wonder his huge 32-ounce serving of cote de boeuf is one of the best.

Tar & Roses // Dry Aged Ribeye for Two // $68

Steak Los Angeles

As part of Downtown Santa Monica’s newer spurt of fabulous restaurants, chef and owner Andrew Kirschner’s Tar & Roses is a trendy spot that’s always packed (really, reservations are hard to come by). While the 28-day dry-aged, bone-in, 24-ounce ribeye, (beautifully pink on the inside and charred on the outside) is perfect for sharing, it’s so good you might not want to. [Tar & Roses]

Water Grill // Iced Shellfish Platters // The Grand for $39, The Deluxe for $75, The King for $145

Seafood Los Angeles

With locations in Downtown and Santa Monica, the Water Grill brings refined seafood dining to some of L.A.’s best neighborhoods. Because of the fabulous service, and the freshest seafood, it’s a great place to go when trying to impress. At any great seafood restaurant, the seafood platters are extraordinarily superb and at Water Grill, these massive and delectable creations won’t disappoint – the King (which serves five) has three different sets of five oysters (Miyagi, Watch Hill, and Rappahannock), eight bay scallops, six Cherrystone clams, 20 wild, jumbo Mexican shrimp, 20 Penn Cove black mussels, one whole, hard-shell American lobster, one whole Dungeness crab, and one whole, large, Channel Island Red sea urchin.
