Storefront Mousa Sandwich [CLOSED]

Sandwich Los Angeles

Storefront, a Los Feliz sandwich shop, deli and bakery with artisanal leanings from Covell owner Dustin Lancaster and Salt’s Cure chef-owners Chris Phelps and Zak Walters, continues the neighborhood’s march towards culinary respectability. The partners clearly have the right idea, featuring seasonal flair, house-made ingredients and a pretty focused selection of pastries, sandwiches and deli salads, plus a good looking griddled burger.

The Mousa ($12), named for a neighborhood local and longtime Lancaster friend, features mildly spicy soppressata, silky poached cotechino, shaved red onion, lettuce, and lip tingling pickled cayenne peppers on a sturdy roll. As Phelps said, “We did everything on there except grow the lettuce.” Quality and flavor were evident, but he and Walters could increase the amount of fillings, since so much of a sandwich’s success depends on a balanced ratio.

Dose of Vitamin P spotlights my favorite pork dish from the previous week.
