Nice Coffee Cappuccino

Coffee Los Angeles

City National Plaza is eerily quiet on weekends, when a courtyard in downtown L.A.’s financial district more or less shuts down apart from Drago Centro and Chaya. Weekdays are a different story; men in suits and women in crisp blouses and skirts criss-cross the plaza. Now they have a great reason to stop: Nice Coffee. Longtime coffee pro Tyler Wells and partners roll down the garage doors, revealing a black counter, racks of deluxe Hot Fat Donuts, a three-group Strada espresso machine, and 49th Parallel beans.

Wells co-founded Handsome Coffee Roasters, a shooting star in the Arts District, and was a key player for Intelligentsia, Superba Food + Bread, Blacktop Coffee and The Wheelhouse after relocating from Austin. He’s trained and worked with many talented baristas over the years, and many of them are now behind the bar at Nice Coffee. Basically, you can trust that you’ll get a high-quality beverage at Nice Coffee, no matter what you order, supposedly with a smile. I ordered a cappuccino and it came with the requisite artistry and amiability.
