Perly’s is a classic Richmond diner. The downtown space features purple walls, classical music, a row of two-seat booths down the middle, pottery filled shelves, and a vintage gold cash register. Gray Wyatt’s place, named for one of his aunts, is also well known for their biscuits. As I found out, Perly’s biscuits pair particularly well with Country Ham & Egg ($4.75). The iconic Southern breakfast sandwich stacks sheets of rosy, savory ham with folded omelet on a flaky Perly’s biscuit. I didn’t bother with sides of grits or homefries, but probably should have since my server said, “I just found out, if you go to Wikipedia and look up grits, they’re our grits.”
Dose of Vitamin P spotlights my favorite pork dish from the previous week.
