Maradentro is a seafood-focused Mexican restaurant from Jesse Gomez and Chef Jose Acevedo in Studio City. Ana Henton, who’s worked on most on the last three restaurants from the duo, delivered a stylish design that includes a navy blue awning that tops a a spacious patio with light wood tables. Inside, twin rooms host white and blue walls, wood panels, tasteful paintings, glass globe chandeliers, and a peek into the open kitchen.
Sure, they have a wide variety of mezcals, tequilas and cocktails, but don’t sleep on Maradentro’s murky Tamarindo Lemonade ($3.50) served in a pint glass and garnished with a lemon wedge. Cesar Arenas created a recipe that features 4 cups of fresh tamarind purée, 4 cups of fresh lemon juice, 5 cups of simple syrup and 8 quarts of water. Mix, refrigerate and be rewarded with a tart, tangy agua fresca that pairs well with Maradentro’s food.
