On February 18, Caroline on Crack founder Caroline Pardilla debates the merits of Chego’s Sriracha Candy Bar, writing, “It’s exotic, unique, spicy and sweet, sure,” but has unkind words for the bar’s peanuts.

On February 15, e*starLA founder Esther Tseng shares Highlights From La Querencia’s 10th Anniversary, a meal that chef-owner-hunter Michael Angel Guerrero Yagües called Festival of the Hunt, featuring fresh-killed wild game. She describes pheasant breast meatballs and a dessert of linguine with blacktail deer.

Eater LA

On February 17, Eater LA editor Kat Odell reports that Berlin Currywurst Starts Serving German Street Food Tuesday in Silver Lake. The “popular fast food in Berlin consists of a hot pork sausage sliced and served with curry sauce and curry powder.”

On February 14, Eater LA contributor Daniela Galarza shares “Hangover Observations” from Jamie Oliver’s Weekend Cooking Competition, even though there was no alcohol involved. Seven local chefs served as mentors for 32 high school students on Santa Monica’s Third Street Promenade, and Michael Symon and Jonathan Waxman judged the competition.

On February 20, Javier “The Glutster” Cabral reported that Korean Clay Roasted Stuffed Golden Duck Has Arrived to Los Angeles at Dha Rae Oak in Koreatown.

On February 17, LA Times Food contributor David Karp reports The Dekopon has arrived, at last. He goes on to describe “a huge mandarin, easy to peel and seedless, with firm flesh that melts in the mouth, an intense sweetness balanced by refreshing acidity, and a complex, lingering mandarin orange aroma.”

On February 15, Table Conversation founder Barbara Hansen writes about Yummy Yum Cha in Tainan. In southern Taiwan, she finds good dim sum at Evergarden, at night, “when you’re as likely to run into sunbathers as dim sum.”

TOMOSTYLE

On February 18, Tomo posted about her Smokin’ Hot birthday feast, where every dish her friends made involved smoked ingredients or spicy hot condiments, including octopus with smoked paprika, cashew and goat cheese-stuffed dates wrapped with applewood smoked bacon, and seafood paella spiked with hot chile infused olive oil.
