E.P. & L.P. Boba Cocktails

Cocktails Los Angeles

L.P. is the rooftop bar at E.P. & L.P., the two-story West Hollywood “Asian eating house” from Australian owners DJ Grant Smillie, businessman David Combes, and model Ashley Hart. L.P. delivers panoramic city views and some of L.A.’s most fun cocktails. Bartender Brittney Olson hosts a nightly “Bubble Tea Mouth Party,” aka alcoholic boba cocktails.

Olson walked me through the entire line-up of bursting boba drinks, which cost $15 and are worth the cost for flavor and scenery’s sake.

Thunderstruck features “ginger, Kaffir lime and cinnamon, like a coconut creamsicle.” Add gin, coconut water, vanilla, fresh lime juice, and cantaloupe boba pearls and you’re definitely in store for a sweet (but not too sweet) summer party.

Californication is “Like a Jungle Bird” with Panamanian rum, Campari, fresh pineapple juice, fresh lime juice, toasted coconut syrup, passion fruit boba pearls, and a dark rum float.

From Sunday Spritz Menu, you’ll find Rocky Balboba, an easy drinking “Aperol Spritz with a gin kick” that includes Aperol, dry gin, fresh lemon, bubbles, orange boba pearls, and a complimentary pun.

Straight Outta Melrose is clearly no menace to society. This “Vodka drink topped with Dry ginger ale with Thai botanicals” pairs beautifully with lillet rosé, pear brandy, fresh lemon juice, celery seed syrup, Thai ginger ale, and tangy pomegranate boba rubies.

L.P. could easily coast on the setting alone, so it was great to find such innovative, flavorful drinks in time for summer. Now where’s a beach when you need one?
