Emma’s Coffee Iced Espresso Tonic

Coffee Los Angeles

Emma’s Coffee jumps into the espresso tonic game in West Hollywood.

Tonic, the slightly bitter carbonated water typically used in cocktails, has become popular in iced coffee and iced espresso drinks thanks to businesses like San Francisco’s Saint Frank Coffee, which is the first place I tried the combo.

Emma’s Coffee is a new West Hollywood specialty coffee bar located across from Largo named for the owner’s rescue dog, who she apparently found behind a coffeehouse dumpster. The quaint cafe contains grey walls, just six tables, and counter seats. A cream colored two-group La Marzocco espresso machine, Amavida Coffee Roasters beans and tonic water tag team on a surprisingly refreshing Iced Espresso Tonic ($4). A double shot of cascading espresso joins effervescent tonic water in an Old Fashioned glass with a tangy lime twist, forming a punchy summer sipper.
