July 26, 2012An Evening on the Beach benefited St. Vincent’s Meals on Wheels and attracted charitable chefs like Paul Shoemaker, chef-owner of Savory in Malibu. He previewed Juicy Lucy, which will feature hamburgers at Fig and 7th this fall, including the burger we tried with kimchi and umeboshi aioli.

July 27, 2012Chapa Grill has two locations, including one near LACMA. One of their specialties is the Jerusalem Mix, a stir-fry of beef, lamb, chicken and onions. It comes with two sides, and we opted for hummus and babaghanoush.

July 28, 2012 – Eagle Rock Brewery co-owner Ting Su wrangled Golden Road Brewing and El Segundo Brewing Co. to join the beer garden at KCRW’s Chinatown Summer Nights.

July 28, 2012 – Our second Saturday dinner was at The Parish, a new downtown gastropub with Casey Lane in charge of culinary proceedings. Their Beets Mache Herbs salad came with molasses yogurt and an “ancient grain” granola of farro and Marcona almonds.

July 29, 2012Brew Something LA reconvened at Umamicatessen and local beer pros enjoyed a panel about beer distribution relationships with Firestone Walker VP Sales/Marketing Steve Almarez, bar owner Ryan Sweeney, Ace and Mission Craft Sales Manager Jace Milstead, and Stone Los Angeles Sales Supervisor Sean Beaucar.
