Port Brewing Summer Pale Ale

Craft Beer San Diego

For some people, a spa day involves a deep-tissue massage, facial, mani-pedi, and possibly a quick schvitz or cup of ice-cold cucumber water. The good people at Port Brewing have a far different, no-frills definition of SPA.

I recently enjoyed a pint of Port Brewing SPA (Summer Pale Ale) at The Surly Goat in West Hollywood during “Surly Hour.” This well-balanced, easy sipping West Coast IPA clocks 6% ABV and contains six types of hops: Amarillo, Cascade, Chinook, Centennial, CTZ, and Simcoe. The fruity, rust-colored beer has pleasant bite and warrants multiple pours over the course of an afternoon. As the website says, “Life’s better at the water’s edge.” Or apparently West Hollywood, paired with tacos.
