Brouwerij West is a new Belgian-inspired brewery from partners Brian Mercer and Nick Brown. They currently contract brew by night in Orange County and operate during the day in Palos Verdes. Five years ago, Mercer launched a company called Dark Candi, selling caramelized sugar syrup to breweries in the U.S. and Canada. However, the longtime home brewer had a grander vision that involved starting a brewery of his own…in Belgium. A year ago, he met Brown, who was working at Rubicon Estate in Napa Valley, and the hop- and malt-fueled dream finally became realistic. CLICK HERE FOR MY INTRO TO BROUWERIJ WEST

This week, Brew & You columnist Sean Inman reports on Hangar 24 Brewery, which “has been slowly expanding its reach from the Inland Empire. You have probably seen (and tasted) their flagship brew, Orange Wheat. And you may have sampled their pale ale at a festival or at places like Tony’s Darts Away. And you may have seen their latest bottled product, Alt-Bier.” However, Inman writes about two reasons to visit the brewery Redlands, Hangar 24’s “homey vibe and special beers.” CLICK HERE TO READ HIS POST.

This is a fun way to test your palate because we strip away the labels and marketing to leave you with just the beer. And isn’t that what it’s all about?”
