Tickets are now on sale for LA BEER WEEK, the second annual celebration of beer culture in Los Angeles and Orange Counties, which culminates in the blowout LA Beer Week Festival on October 17 at Union Station. BLUE PALMS BREWHOUSE

The Blue Palms Brewhouse line-up currently includes options like Cismontane IPA, The Bruery 7 Grain Saison, Avery Karma, Drake’s Denogginizer, Lost Abbey Red Barn, Goose Island Matilda and St. Louise Geueze.

Proprietor Brian Lenzo is gearing up for his 2nd Anniversary Celebration on August 14, featuring 30+ specialty beers, a (200-pound!) pig roast, dunk tank, cigar lounge and more for $40, including 10 taster tickets. According to bar manager Rory Snipes, “New draft beers this week include Franziskaner Hefe, Ladyface Blind Ambition Amber, St. Feuillien Saison, Coronado Islander IPA and Alesmith Summer YuleSmith DIPA. We also just got three gluten-free beers in bottles from Greens; a Dubbel, Tripel, and an Amber.”

According to General Manager & Wine Director Matthew Kaner, “Jolly Pumpkin Oro de Calabaza went on last night, Paulaner Salvatore and a few others will go on this weekend. Other up and comers are Bear Republic Heritage Scottish Wee Heavy Ale and Shipyard Old Thumper Ale.”

THE DAILY PINT

Phil McGovern’s Santa Monica bar recently added draught beers like Meantime Chocolate Porter, Bear Republic Racer 5, Port Mongo double IPA, Port Road to Helles and Lost Abbey Witch’s Wit, and, on cask, Stone Ruination IPA with Centennial hops.

On August 6 at 6 PM, The Daily Pint is hosting a Friday Night Drag Race, pitting Racer 5 vs. Racer X. “We will have 1/2 barrel kegs of Racer 5, Racer X, and one of our all-time favorite browns, Pete Brown Tribute Ale. Also being tapped: Hop Rod Rye and XPA. It’s a race to the finish line! Which keg will we drain first? The quaffable, crowd-pleasing Racer 5 or the mysterious, masked, and elusive Racer X?! Tune in this Friday at 6pm to find out!”

According to yesterday’s update from co-owner Jason Bernstein, “Right now we have Drake’s Bass Ackwards, Drake’s Hopocalypse, Oscar Blues Gubna, Knuckle Sandwich, Sierra Nevada Almond Marzen Project, Craftsman 1903, Port Older Viscosity, New Belgium Fall Wild Ale, North Coast Old Rasputin and Schneider Hopfenweisse.”

LADYFACE ALE COMPANIE

According to Ladyface rep Robyn Britton, “Hop Fest continues at Ladyface! Bear Republic Racer 5, Port Hop 15, Avery Maharajah, Stone Cali-Belgique, Drake’s 1500 and Bass Ackwards, Speakeasy Double Daddy, Oskar Blues Gubna, and Alesmith XPA. Also our own Chesebro IPA, new Ladyface Red Rye, La Blonde, Saison Sauvignon, Trois Filles Tripel, and Picture City Porter. Check the beer board on Facebook for the latest changes. Cask of the Week is “Red Rye Neat”, our American red ale straight from the firkin.”

LIBRARY ALEHOUSE

According to yesterday’s update from Library Alehouse general manager Tom Kelley, “We have Allagash Four, Black, and Victoria on draft and should have some left over from the dinner. In addition we have Raging Bitch on, Lagunitas Pilsner, Stone 14, Ranger IPA, Lagunitas IPA, with Drake’s 1500 and Strand Pale following sometime over the weekend. Just picked up another keg of Jolly Pumpkin Oro de Calabaza so look out for the release of that.

Next Tuesday, August 10th is the return of RACER X! We have a whole half barrel going live at 11:30 AM. I wouldn’t get here too late.. doubt it lasts the night. In addition we will have Hop Rod Rye and Racer 5 as always.

And look forward to Tuesday August 17th when we will be debuting Ballast Point. More info next week.”

NAJA’S PLACE

According to assistant manager Martin Svab, “Tonight, we will feature Craftsman Brewing Company. The following beers will be on tap from one of the best breweries in Southern California: Beer Mountain, Biere De Blanco, CabernAle, Orange Grove and Spring Braggot. Event goes from 8pm till 10pm.

Here are the new beers on draught: Allagash Curieux, Allagash White, Anchor Steam, Port Hop 15, Blanche de Bruxelles and Bruery Trade Winds Tripel

And other goodies…New bottles of Port Santa’s Little Helper (Bourbon-barrel aged).

According to co-owner Marlene Samaniego: “We are doing something new and exciting this month. We are presenting Single Hopped Ales on Draft! Mikkeller Brewing brewed a beer – Mikkeller 10 using 10 different hops in it. They then brewed 10 different batches of the same beer but just using only one hop in each batch. We are fortunate to have seven of these beers on draft and all ten in the bottles! Rogue Brewing has a new beer too – it’s single malt and single hopped – now on draft too! We also have several American Single Hopped brews ready to go on draft when these are gone. Here’s the line-up:

    According to co-owner Ryan Sweeney, Tomme Arthur visited The Surly Goat last night for the bar’s latest Beer For Books event, and he brought a keg of Lost Abbey bourbon barrel aged Santa’s Little Helper and a keg of Port Road to Helles (Batch #2), which is softer, less hoppy. Deschutes Hop in the Dark is live, and on deck you’ll find Russian River Supplication, Rogue John John Juniper IPA, 1908 Berliner Weisse and Sierra Nevada Almond Marzen Project.

    38 DEGREES ALEHOUSE

    According to co-owner Clay Harding, “New on tap this week is Craftsman Saison, Firestone Double Barrel Ale, Port Brewing Hot Rocks Lager, Alesmith IPA, Ballast Point Yellowtail Kolsch, Lagunitas Undercover Investigation Shut Down Ale, Mad River The Mad Belgian, The Bruery Humulus Rice and Brewdog Tokyo to even out the summer light lineup!

    I am also featuring Ninkasi Brewing Company of Eugene Oregon offering 22oz bottles of their Total Domination IPA, Radiant Summer Ale and Believer Double Red Ale. Get them while they are fresh. Ninkasi is a goddess praised by ancient Sumerians for the miracle of Fermentation. Worship the Goddess, we at 38 do! Victory Prima Pils being tapped this weekend.

    According to manager Paige Reilly, “We just tapped a DELISH keg of Idiot Double IPA from Coronado Brewing Co. Also, we currently have on a cask of Stone Smoked Porter with Chipotle, and a fantastic Green Flash Citra Session with a great Bootlegger’s Wildfire Wheat on deck.

    Also, this coming Tuesday, August 10th, marks our first real Tuesday’s @ Tony’s event with a Flight Night featuring Certified Cicerone and Firestone rep. Jace Milstead! For $12 patrons get a flight of 6 beers picked and lead by Jace. It will be a great educational evening, and a chance to really connect with the local beer community. Come on by!!!”

    VERDUGO BAR

    According to co-owner Ryan Sweeney, you’ll currently find beers like Jolly Pumpkin Bam Bière, Russian River Damnation and Eagle Rock Limbo – their new Citra hopped Saison. On deck, Verdugo Bar has kegs of The Bruery Humulus Lager, 1908 Berliner Weisse, and once Pliny the Elder kicks, probably by this weekend, visitors will find Bear Republic Racer X.
