Grizzby’s Bee Hive [CLOSED]

Cinnamon Roll Claremont

Unless you’re a bear sporting several inches of fur, it’s generally not a smart idea to square off with a bee hive unless you’re wearing a protective body suit. Thankfully, the Bee Hive poses no such dangers when you visit Grizzby’s Biscuits & Donuts in Claremont. That’s because their bee hive is a cinnamon roll.

Matt Fong and Travis Flood built upon the success of Pappas Artisanal in La Verne (“Crafted Pizza + Brunch + Cycling“) by opening Grizzby’s Biscuits & Donuts in Claremont Village. A “Simpsons” style sign reads, “Welcome to Donut Heaven,” and Grizzby’s certainly sells a mountain of donuts, bars, and fritters, but their Bee Hive ($3.50) impressed me most.

An airy honey-glazed cinnamon roll with texture of a good glazed donut comes topped with toasted almonds and crunchy golden bee pollen. Bonus: some people claim this pollen has health benefits, antiviral and cholesterol battling properties. The rest of this roll may counterbalance those positive effects, but either way, I’d be happy to eat another bee hive.
