If you like watching movies on a big screen with spacious seating, full service and the option to eat or drink, but don’t want to stay at home, then Gold Class Cinemas might be fore you. The high-class chain built a following in Australia, Asia and Europe before the owners decided to take the concept Stateside in October 2008. As of December 2, you’ll find Gold Class Cinemas at One Colorado in Old Town Pasadena. Theatres are extremely spacious, with 24-40 seats, orange recliners with built-in footrests and a silent server call button.
The seasonal menu is divided into Smaller, Bigger and Sweeter categories. No matter what you order, no utensils are required. Options include crisp Maine lobster rolls ($18) with lemon aioli and sweet Thai chile sauce; Duck Tacos ($15) with shredded duck breast, Monterey Jack cheese, cilantro, mango salsa and pepper relish; a Gold Class Club Calzone ($15) with grilled chicken, bacon, lettuce, tomato, lemon aioli and avocado; and a Strawberry and Rhubarb Splice ($9) with house made shortbread cookies.
Tickets cost $22 during the week, $29 on the weekend, and dinner and a movie packages start at $40 per person.
