Highland Bakery Breakfast Sandwich

Breakfast Sandwich Atlanta

Atlanta’s Old Fourth Ward neighborhood is on the rise, and Highland Bakery owner Stacey Eames has been a big part of the process, packing her bakery cafe while opening two additional branches. The low-slung brick building with art-lined walls sells a lot of pancakes, Benedicts and biscuits, but my choice was the Breakfast Sandwich ($5.29) since it’s available on a variety of house-made breads.

It cost an extra $1.59 to get the sandwich with jalapeno focaccia, and that was well worth the up-charge, with moist bread featuring sharp cheese fused into the bread like chicharron de queso, plus a chile kick. In the middle, they stack fluffy egg, molten white cheddar and crispy bacon slices, which all contribute to breakfast bliss.

Dose of Vitamin P spotlights my favorite pork dish from the previous week.
