High Museum of Art is a great place to stop between meals. I enjoyed "Leonardo da Vinci: Hand of the Genius" featuring a massive bronze Sforza horse cast using his design.

Fish Atlanta

Chef-owner Steven Satterfield has instilled an industrial space next to Atlanta’s Fabrefaction Theatre Company with a warm interior, including worn cabinets, skillets on one wall, game bird accents, and wooden tables. 4000 miles of streams that cut through the Georgia mountains yield delectable trout, and Satterfield knows what to do with the catch. His juicy, crisp-skinned Sautéed Trout Fillet came on a bed of well seasoned turnips, fennel, and leeks, with a crisp vivid watermelon radish up top.

Tony and Diane Riffel started roasting their own coffee in Birmingham since my last visit, and they also opened a more advanced branch at The Jane, a fashionable mixed use development in Grant Park that’s named for golfer Bobby Jones’ club, The Calamity Jane. [He’s buried across the street at Oakland Cemetery.] The glass fronted industrial space contains communal tables and a wood plank ceiling. Octane shares a counter with The Little Tart bakery, and they operate a full bar at night, including two coffee cocktails: Octane No. 1 and Espresso Flip. Octane was the only coffeehouse I visited twice during my latest stay, and my favorite cup of coffee showcased Franklin Garbanzo Estate from La Violeta, Costa Rica, which a barista named Leah prepared via pourover.

One Eared Stag [CLOSED]

Charcuterie Atlanta

The owner of this Inman Park restaurant is apparently a bowhunter and friends with a taxidermist. Thus the head of a one eared stag (missing right ear) over the bar. Taxidermied boar, steer and more also line the bar’s white-painted brick walls. The dining room touts a giant communal table, plus shelves of jarred pickles and preserves. Their deluxe Cured Meats platter featured three pieces each of speck, beef bacon, lomo, lardo, chewy fat streaked guanciale, and duck liver terrine. House made pickled vegetables (radish stems and ramps), bourbon mustard, beer mustard, and toast also joined the party.
