Every week involves a steady stream of food, drinks and people. From April 19 – 22, 2012, most of those people were accomplished coffee professionals at the Specialty Coffee Association of America event at the Oregon Convention Center and surrounding Portland coffeehouses.

Longtime Intelligentsia employee Jared Linzmeier recently started working for Caffe Ladro founder Jack Kelly in Seattle.

Marcus Lintner and Collin Schneider prepared Sterling Coffee at Coffeehouse Northwest.

Tim Varney, who roasts for Tim Wendelboe in Oslo, pulled shots at SCAA.

2007 World Barista Champion James Hoffmann of London’s Square Mile Coffee pulled shots of their seasonal Red Brick espresso blend at SCAA.

Brewers Cup finalists had every brew method but espresso at their disposal, and Andy Sprenger from Annapolis’ Ceremony Coffee Roasters took the title.

Katie Carguilo, Devin Chapman, Jared Truby, Chris Baca, Charles Babinski and Travis Becket made the United States Barista Championship finals.

…2012 United States Barista Champion Katie Carguilo hoisted the trophy, winning a trip to Vienna to compete in June’s World Barista Championship, a trip to Costa Rica to visit coffee farms, and plenty of coffee swag.
