Mi La Cay #4 is a Vietnamese restaurant located in back of Ramona Center strip mall on the Little Saigon side of Garden Grove. Decor consists of mirrors along the east wall, black and white checkerboard floor, faux plants, labeled food photos. The owners operate two other locations in Westminster and a location in San Jose. Just look for the palm tree logo.

I’d recommend bowls of house-made noodles with proteins like pork and duck, but my favorite dish starred xiu mai. A plate of sliced youtiao, savory Chinese donuts, joined a large, peppery pork meatball bobbing in broth with lap cheong, frozen peas and carrots. Dip your donuts in the broth, spoon up the soup like meaty matzo, or just eat as you please.
