Restaurant Malibu

The Collection offers a fresh experience at Malibu Country Inn. [The Collection]

Malibu Country Inn replaced Hideaway Café with The Collection. The restaurant celebrated its grand opening in October with new owner Reza Helali, a renovated dining room, an outdoor patio that features both mountain and ocean views and a rose garden. Helali decided on the name because she’s assembled a “collection” of art and cuisines.

The kitchen now hosts a trio of chefs: Antonio Rosa (The Regency Club), Douglas Soriano (The Peninsula, The Farm) and private chef Isabella Sarengetti. They collaborate on specials and jointly update the menu seasonally. Rosa heads the kitchen on Tuesday and Wednesday, and Thursday through Sunday, you’ll find Sarengetti and Soriano heading the line.

At breakfast, expect options like brioche French toast with berry compote and maple syrup, or a choice of traditional, crab or smoked salmon eggs Benedict.

At lunch, the menu centers on sandwiches, including a Prosciutto sandwich with mozzarella, arugula and pesto dressing; the Tuna sandwich with sweet corn, spring onion, tomato, lettuce and lemon herb vinaigrette; and The Collection Burger with mozzarella, caramelized onion, tomato and lettuce. Every sandwich is served on French bread and comes with home fries.

For dinner, consider options like shrimp scampi with white wine and garlic sauce; black pepper-crusted salmon served over sautéed Japanese spinach; or The Collection Special – grilled lamb chops marinated in garlic, onion and oregano, served with seasonal vegetables and home fries. For dessert, The Collection specializes in four kinds of cheesecake: tiramisu, crème brulee, New York and cranberry-orange.
