At Luv2Eat Thai Bistro, which is located in a Hollywood strip mall, Phuket natives Noree Pla and Fern Kaewtathip serve flavorful Thai comfort food. The duo previously worked at Hoy-Ka Thai Noodle in Thai Town. I probably ate their cooking there during their tenure. Their Cherokee Plaza restaurant isn’t much to look at upon first glance. The Luv2Eat Thai Bistro space houses mismatched tables and chairs, light grey walls, and an oversized fork and spoon. Still, a basic setting is just fine when food is so potent. Luv2Eat was packed for Monday lunch, and most dishes delivered.
I enjoyed Shrimp Paste Fried Rice and Phuket Style Crab Curry Kanomjean at Luv2Eat Thai Bistro, but neither dish brought unadulterated porcine power as Grilled Pork Larb ($9.95). I still can’t figure out why they called this “larb,” considering that word traditionally implies minced meat, but I was still happy to down fatty char-grilled strips tossed with gritty rice powder, scallions, red onions, chiles and mint. The united ingredients arrived on a bed of lettuce with a container of sticky rice, which tempers the dish’s chile spice and traditionally doubles as a utensil.
Dose of Vitamin P spotlights my favorite pork dish from the previous week.
