The L.A. Beer Blast is designed to let Food GPS readers know what’s new at select L.A. bars and restaurants with great beer selections. You’ll also discover beer-related events in the area and meet industry leaders. The L.A. Beer Blast normally arrives every Thursday evening, in time for the weekend rush. Look in the left sidebar, Subscribe to Food GPS and you’ll receive the L.A. Beer Blast by e-mail. This will be the last L.A. Beer Blast until December 1, with a brief hiatus for the holiday. Have a Happy Thanksgiving!
Who said nothing eventful happens between Thanksgiving and Christmas? On December 4, Food GPS presents a lazy Sunday at Biergarten that combines two of my favorite things: pork and craft beer. The casual event features a whole Filipino-style roast pig from Neri’s Curbside Cravings, seasonal sides from Biergarten executive chef Eddie Hah, two pints of California craft beer and a special flavor of Scoops ice cream.
Brew & You

At the L.A. Beer Week fest, we asked four of L.A.’s best beer bar owners (and one GM) pointed questions. In this case: “What do you look for when you’re hiring somebody to work behind your bar?” Their responses might surprise (or help) you. Click Here For Their Responses.
Last year, longtime Newport Beach Brewing Co. operator Jerry Kolbly teamed with Steve Miles on Noble Aleworks. They hired Tracy Simmons to help them produce beers like Dark Sybian IPA and Alpha Red, contract brewing out of Dale Brothers in Upland. Noble opened a tasting room in a warehouse space at the Stadium Plaza Business Park, near Angels Stadium and the Honda Center in Anaheim. They only recently transitioned out of Upland, which not only saves them a commute; it also allowed them to increase production, styles and the range of the on-site tasting room. TAKE HER HOME TRIPEL – Belgian Style Triple
A classic Trappist style. Light in color yet packing a punch. The slightly sweet yet refreshing flavors of citrus and spice come from the Belgian yeast and help mask the heavy alcohol content. Cuidado!

ATOM ALE XPA – IPs Baby Brother
A lighter and less aggressive version of the IPA. The light straw color is complimented by balanced hop additions and a mellow session-able alcohol volume.
