On June 15, Drink Eat Travel posted their latest cooking demo video, titled Randy Clemens Cooks Mitch Hedberg’s Thai BBQ Chicken Recipe, starring the author of the Sriracha Cookbook and featuring the recipe as the payoff.

Eater LA

On June 15, Eater LA contributor Yolanda Evans reported Curtis Nysmith Closes Capitol, City To Open 3Dog Cantina. Spacecraft is handling the design and a ‘well-known celebrity chef’ will design the authentic regional Mexican cuisine menu.”

On June 13, Eater LA editor Kat Odell reported Jamie Lauren Departs Beechwood, Remodel Planned, Roy Choi Takes Command of New American Menu. According to the restaurant’s reps, “This will be Roy Choi’s most American menu to date.”

Gourmet Pigs

On June 17, Gourmet Pigs founder Fiona Chandra traveled to Little Saigon with blogger Wandering Chopsticks to raise money for earthquake relief efforts in Japan, starting with Northern Vietnamese Cuisine at Vien Dong (Garden Grove, CA), enjoying Vietnamese iced coffee, shrimp and yam fritters, Hanoi-style turmeric fish with dill, among the many dishes.

LA Times

On June 15, LA Times staffer Jessica Gelt covered an impending opening in a post titled The Churchill to open on West Third Street helmed by chef Jason Tuley of Santa Barbara’s Square One, featuring a “seasonal American menu” and a “take-out window that will serve Intelligentsia coffee, breakfast items, quick sandwiches, pizza by the slice and housemade ice cream.”

On June 16, Squid Ink contributor Daniel Drennon shared his Top 10 American Craft Beers for Summer, including one local option: Strand 24th Street Pale Ale.

On June 15, LA Weekly restaurant critic Jonathan Gold returns to his formative street in a post titled Top 10 Pico Boulevard Eats, including El Parian, Dino’s Burgers and Ham Ji Park.

Street Gourmet LA

On June 13, Street Gourmet LA founder Bill Esparza shared one of his latest discoveries in a post titled Guatemalan Street Food,MacArthur Park,LA-Locals Hoof it on Over After Work for the $3.50 Special, describing hearty food for “the Central-American blue collar crowd, a bite before catching the bus homeward,” including beef hoof soup and pacaya rellena.
