Eater LA editor Lesley Balla previously revealed Bungalow Club owner Anat Escher’s plan to transform Silver Lake’s Zen Sushi into Barbarella Bar. A press release further illuminated Escher’s approach and timeline.

Escher is in the midst of repurposing Zen Sushi’s 4,300-square-foot space into a bar, restaurant and lounge inspired by Jane Fonda’s 1968 outer space sexcapade. “Silverlake is such a unique section of the city,” says Escher. “I wanted to bring something different to the nightlife culture. Barbarella Bar will be a styled, happening, ultra lounge–lavish but still affordable.”

The lounge will house “tufted silver leather couches.” Red leather banquettes and mahogany tables will have prime views of the dance floor. DJs will regularly spin using Barbarella Bar’s EV sound system.

Escher still hasn’t named a chef, but she expects to serve dishes like The Barbarella Burger (dry aged Angus and Point Reyes blue), Scottish Organic Salmon, Jidori Chicken and Spicy Tuna Tartar. You’ll also find sushi and vegetarian rolls.

Bartenders will pour from 24 taps behind a 60-foot handcrafted wooden bar while as many as 45 drinkers luxuriate on suede stools. Expect a rotating selection of internationally inspired microbrews, including Erdinger Weissbier, a “rich and smooth wheat beer” from Germany; Tripel Karmeliet, an ale “still brewed to an authentic [Belgian] beer recipe from 1679 originating in the former Carmelite monastery in Dendermonde; Red Seal Ale, a “full-bodied, copper-red Pale Ale” with a “spicy finish”; and Maudite, a Canadian beer with “an appealing aroma of wild spices and floral hop notes.”

If beer isn’t your thing, you’ll also be able to select from a healthy list of wines by the glass and 10-ounce specialty cocktails like the Barbarella Cosmo.
