Bagby Beer Rye Not?

Craft Beer San Diego

38 Degrees is known for their Ultimate Flight Nights during LA Beer Week, but co-owner Clay Harding puts so much care into his beer program that it’s easy to create fantastic flights year round. I recently stopped by and found four rye beers on tap, which allowed me to create a flight. I paired pours of Three Weavers Nitro If You’re Nasty Rye Stout with Bear Republic Coronado Collab Merbear Rye and Bagby Beer Rye Not?

I would have been happy to drink a full pint of each beer, but enjoyed Rye Not? best of all. This 5.5% ABV pale ale displayed an inviting amber hue and gathered the strengths of Amarillo, Chinook, Centennial and Cascade hops to form a spicy but sessionable beer. Online, Bagby recommends their burger or smoked chicken club. The beer was probably a bit too assertive for the 38 Degrees carrot cake, but I enjoyed both separately.
