Deli Los Angeles

Nate ‘n Al, a legendary Beverly Hills deli, opens an outpost at The Lakes in Thousand Oaks.

The western fringe of the San Fernando Valley is becoming a deli hub. Brent’s Delicatessen started the pastrami infusion in 2008. Today, beloved 64-year-old Beverly Hills institution Nate ‘n Al joins the fray, opening its first branch at The Lakes in Thousand Oaks, in the former home of Sushi Ko.

“We have long thought about a second location but it took [Caruso Affiliated owner] Rick Caruso and an incredible destination like The Lakes to convince us that now was the time,” said David Mendelson, grandson of Al Mendelson, who became the deli’s sole owner after longtime partner Nate Reimer retired in the early ’50s.

Expect a menu identical to the Beverly Hills original, featuring pastrami, corned beef, Grandmother Mendelson’s potato pancakes and rye double-baked daily.
