Josiah Citrin is entering his tenth year as chef-owner of Mélisse, and in an effort to keep his Santa Monica restaurant fresh, he hired DEX Studio to update the look. The Venice design group painted the walls violet and white and installed a floor-to-ceiling glass and wood wine case. You should also expect Raphael Sloane’s “botanical photography” and a central glass chandelier with a black linen shade. Citrin sourced hand-blown crystal sculptures from Saint-Paul de Vence, France, and purchased hand-painted Limoges china. As for the food, you should continue to expect the same “contemporary American cuisine with French influences” that earned Citrin two Michelin stars at Mélisse.
