Los Angeles Donuts Worth Seeking

Donuts Los Angeles

The Donut Hole in La Puente takes the drive-through donut shop concept to another level.

If you’ve seen The Donut King documentary, you know the impact that Ted Ngoy and other Cambodian immigrants have had on Los Angeles donut culture. Thanks to Cambodian (and other) entrepreneurs, L.A. has more donut shops than any other city in the U.S. National Geographic estimates we have approximately 1,500 independent shops, not including chains. Any donut style imaginable is now available in L.A., including raised, old fashioned, bars, bear claws, cake, cronuts, crullers, filled, fritters, holes, malasadas, and mochi. That’s just the beginning. In recent years, shops like Blinkie’s, California Donuts, and DK’s Donuts & Bakery modernized and customized designs. Bespoke donuts? Why not? L.A. donut shops have also absorbed global influences and market-driven ingredients. That’s part and parcel for many Angelenos.

Sadly, MoDo Hawaii didn’t last long in Torrance or Duarte, but their made-to-order mochi donuts were the best I’ve tried. No other mochi donuts have filled that void. In the past, I’ve also had memorable donuts from Huckleberry and Republique. This guide, like my other guides, will grow and evolve. Learn about Los Angeles donuts worth seeking now.
