Food GPS Presents “Pig & Pints” at Biergarten

Who said nothing eventful happens between Thanksgiving and Christmas? On December 4 from 1 p.m. – 4 p.m., Food GPS presents a lazy Sunday at Biergarten that combines three of our favorite things: pork, craft beer and ice cream. The casual event in Koreatown features a whole Filipino-style roast pig from Neri’s Curbside Cravings, seasonal sides from Biergarten executive chef Eddie Hah, two pints of California craft beer and a special flavor of Scoops ice cream that includes beer.

Since last Thursday, Phil McGovern’s iconic Santa Monica bar has added Russian River Pliny the Elder and Lindemans Framboise to its taps.

Eagle Rock Brewery

On tap beer wise are Solidarity and Solidarity Nitro, Manifesto Wit, Revolution XPA, Dortmunder Export and the holiday beer Jubilee. On the Food truck front, Friday brings Global Soul and on Sunday for brunch it is the Flatiron truck. And on December 7th, there will be a book signing for Joshua Bernstein’s book, Brewed Awakenings.

But the big excitement is next Thursday, December 8: The Factory Goes Rogue! We will be pouring several small production Rogue brews that are rarely if ever seen on tap outside of Oregon! Vendome Toluca Lake’s weekly Beer Tasting is from 2-5 pm on Saturday and 12-3 pm Sunday. At The Tripel in Playa Del Rey, “Brooke [Williamson]was inspired to add on a few festive libations that pair particularly well with turkey. To get into the spirit of the season she suggests the following brews: Victory Otto – Smoked malt Rouch beer that goes great with anything super smoky like ham or smoked turkey; Ommegang Adoration – Belgian style winter ale with spices and orange peel; Craftsman Edgar’s Ale – Russian imperial stout with hints of coffee and toffee that emit heavy malt and smoky aromas; Stone Vertical Epic 11.11.11 – Belgian amber tweaked with the addition of flavorful Anaheim chilies and cracked cinnamon sticks; and N’Ice Chouffe – Brewed with thyme and curacao peel, this beer puts forth a strong fruity start of raisins and pear, and ends with a spicy finish of nutmeg and cinnamon.”
