Beachwood BBQ

Here’s the draft update for BottleRock’s downtown and Culver City locations: “The Guinness will be flowing by the bottle with new tap selections Avery Dugana IPA and Ommegang 3 Philosophers.”

According to chef-owner Tony Alcazar, “This week is special. In celebration of our 2 year anniversary, we are holding our 2nd Annual Mini IPA Fest along with Mini Flatbreads…GO MINI!!! Goes from March 14 to March 20 and anything that is left over will continue into next week.

Here’s the list: Anderson Valley Bahl Hornin’ Nettie Madge, Avery Dugana Double IPA, Ballast Point Sculpin IPA, Bear Republic Ryevalry Double IPA, Beer Valley Leafer Madness DIPA, Cismontane Double Rainbow DIPA, Coronado Idiot IPA, Dogfish Head Aprihop IPA, Drake’s Denogginizer Imperial IPA, Firestone Union Jack IPA, Great Divide Hercules Double IPA, Oskar Blues Gubna Imperial IPA, Port Brewing Mongo Double IPA, Rubicon Brewing Co. IPA, Russian River Blind Pig IPA, Russian River Pliny The Elder DIPA, Speakeasy Double Daddy Imperial IPA and Victory Hop Devil IPA. Firestone Double Jack, Black Diamond Rampage and Bootleggers Knuckle Sandwich will make an appearance later in the week. Solid!!!

As for St Patty’s, we will be pouring tons of stouts and be serving up some Corned Beef and Cheddar Smothered Fries.”

City Sip

Here is the latest from Alex Macy of City Sip, “On Saturday afternoon, March 19th, a small group will gather behind City Sip to learn the secrets, old and new, to brewing your own beer at home. Beer expert Alex Macy will take the class through each step of creating an IPA, culminating just before the actual fermentation of the brew (in accordance with local laws). Throughout the class, students will taste up to seven varieties of beer, discussing and learning the various types, styles, and brands now available. A step-by-step take home guide is included, which also sources various methods of brewing and locations that students may purchase home brew kits.
As well, a full lunch is served during the tasting, and as well as special guests visits, tips and observations by noted local Brew Masters. The cost of this class is $50.00 per person, and includes the class, all materials, beer tasting, and lunch. ATTENDEES ARE ENCOURAGED TO ARRANGE FOR SAFE TRANSPORTATION HOME FOLLOWING THE CLASS AS THE “BEER TASTING” INCLUDES QUITE A BIT MORE BEER THAN A FEW TASTES – IT’S A HOLIDAY WEEKEND!!!

The Daily Pint

Since last Thursday, Phil McGovern’s iconic Santa Monica bar has added Lost Abbey Road to Helles, Russian River Pliny the Elder and Double Bastard, IPA with simcoe hops and Smoked Porter with vanilla Beans from Stone.

Eagle Rock Brewery

Get a growler fill or stop in for a pint at Eagle Rock Brewery. Great food trucks this weekend include Almoosal on Thursday, The Grilled Cheese Truck on Friday and Grill ‘Em All on Saturday.

The Factory

According to Eric Gutenkauf, “The Factory Gastrobar will be “hoppin'” this St. Patrick’s Day for our First Annual Eco-Green Beer Festival. Buy one of our St. Patrick’s Day mugs filled with brew for $5, and refill it for $3 all night! Also all of our canned brews will be $3!

Our draft list will focus on rewarding brewers that “Go Green”, so we will have New Belgium’s Lip of Faith Dunkelweisse, Sierra Nevada’s Bigfoot and Eel River’s Triple Exultation. We are alos goign to try and minimize our “beer miles” by getting our brews locally–Strand Atticus IPA, Eagle Rock Manifesto Wit, Bootleggers Rustic Rye IPA, Cismontane Black’s Dawn Stout, and Nibble Bit Tabby Uncle Arnie’s Irish Red. Through the weekend our taps will rotate to include: Grand Teton Idaho Pale Ale, Ballast Point Sculpin IPA, Drake’s Denogginizer and Firestone Walker Union Jack IPA.

According to Ladyface rep Robyn Britton, “On Saint Patrick’s Day, everyone’s Irish! Join your kin from the old country at Ladyface where the ale is magically delicious and our leprechauns can turn it green at your command. Black and Tans, fine Irish and Scotch whiskeys, and nitrate-free, house-brined corned beef sliders with whiskey cabbage slaw are all on the menu.

Matt Husted reports the following new on tap O’Hara’s Irish Stout, Cismontane Citizen, Victory Braumeister Pils, Brouwerij West Tripel, Blanche de Bruxelles, Anderson Valley Nettie Madge Black IPA and Strand Atticus. On cask are Firestone-Walker Reserve Robust Porter and Stone IPA with centennial hops.

Naja’s Place

According to assistant manager Martin Svab, “St. Patrick’s Day tonight. No big promo just a boatload of good beer. We will be pouring Guinness, Harp & Smithwick’s along with 85 other beers.

Firestone Walker

New Belgium Brewing Co.

The 3rd Annual IPA Festival
The official kick off date is Thursday, April 21st, 2011. This year’s festival promises to be the best one yet with 40+ IPAs / DIPAs / IIPAs on tap and gravity pour. (we’ve scaled down the size to ensure hop freshness). Some uber-rare beers will make an appearance as well as some Naja’s exclusive IPAs. More details soon.

We are also pouring some badass beers this weekend. This weekend we have Eagle Rock’s Populist, North Coast Blue Star Wheat, Allagash Black, Strand 24th St. Pale, and Craftsman 1903. Simmzy’s

According to manager Micah Schiesel, “Let’s start with some yummy IPA’s, we got the “Gubna”, Stone Ruination, Dogfish 90 and Aprihop, Avery IPA, Hanger 24 and more showing up everyday. We just brought in Black Market Brown Ale (brewed in Temecula,) and Eel River organic amber. Now for some darker stuff, Ballast Point’s Sea Monster Imperial Stout and we got a very special keg of Shipyard’s Imperial Porter. For those wanting something a bit lighter Craftsman’s 1903 lager is going to be hanging out with us for a while. According to Mary Drenthe at The York, “This week at The York it’s all about St. Paddy’s Day. We’ve got Victory Donnybrook Stout pouring alongside our Guinness tap. We’ve got a coveted keg of Nibble Bit Tabby Irish Red. And we’re gonna be pouring $6 Irish Car Bombs all night long. If you’d like a little Irish Whiskey to sip on with your Irish beer, we’ll be offering flights of Jameson, Jameson 12yr, and Jameson 18yr for $13. Oh, and there will of course be plenty of $3 green Bud Light available.

For those who don’t want to mess around and just want the hops, we’ve got Firestone Double Jack IPA followed by Avery Black IPA. We’re also pouring Nibble Bit Ransom Brown, Taps Cream Ale, Lagunitas GnarlyWine, Eagle Rock Manifesto, Craftsman 1903, Stone Pale Ale, Weihenstephaner Hefeweissbier, and Foxen Pear Cider.
