Cafe Stella Launches Brunch

A star marks the spot at Sunset Junction where Cafe Stella now serves brunch.

Cafe Stella chef-owner Gareth Kantner debuts brunch at his Sunset Junction bistro on May 8. He promises dishes like brioche with clarified butter, fleur de sel, and maple syrup; eggs Benedict with thick-sliced bacon or salmon and a potato nest; and lemon ricotta pancakes with a “buttery crispy edge and a light airy texture and a juicy ricotta center.” Kantner will also unleash the Stella Morning Bun , a fluffy, pull-apart pastry made with brown sugar and a hint of orange zest.

The comprehensive menu is available from 9 a.m. – 3 p.m. and takes both breakfast and lunch into account. Expect eight different egg dishes, including Moroccan Eggs and a Lardons & Escarole Frittata. You’ll also find three salads and seven sandwiches, plus “Classics” like Steak Frites and the Stella Burger.

To drink: enjoy bay leaf blackberry mimosas, fresh squeezed orange juice and cucumber lemonade. Get your caffeine fix with coffee and espresso drinks made-to-order next door at Intelligentsia.

Address: 3932 Sunset Boulevard, Los Angeles, CA 90029

steak frites for brunch? woah..

that special pastry looks good and who can doubt made-at-intelligentsia coffee drinks?

Last week, when I was Intelligentsia, I snagged a bite of Gareth’s morning bun. It’s the real deal, similar to the Tartine Bakery bun, but with crispy outer layers.
