Brunch Los Angeles

Allston Yacht Club owners Bill DiDonna and Charles Kelly recently started blogging on the Huffington Post, titling their column “Adventures in the Restaurant Business.” Their initial entry discusses the “simmering bubble of boredom” that drove them from film production into the restaurant business.

When DiDonna and Kelly aren’t blogging, they run an Echo Park restaurant and bar called Allston Yacht Club. The duo recently launched Sunday brunch, which runs from 10 AM until ~ 3 PM. Options include a croque monsieur/madame, duck confit hash with poached eggs, organic house-made granola with yogurt, biscuits and sausage gravy, and North African sweet potato fritters.

Actually, Allston took the place of 15, on Echo Park about 100 feet from the corner of Sunset (visible from Sunset). 15 had a loyal neighborhood following, and both times I have been in Allston it has been busy. Not much of a brunch person myself, but the duck confit hash tempts me.

Hope the restaurant does better than the name would imply. Truly awful choice of name, and not even on a major street. No wonder they are doing the Huff post thing, hoping it will be the PR needed to get their yacht out to sea without sinking.
