Beachwood BBQ & Brewing founder Gabe Gordon, wife/partner Lena Perelman, and brewmaster/partner Julian Shrago took over the short-lived Beach City Brewery. This enabled Beachwood to increase production capacity and open another outlet to enjoy their glorious beers. Their modern tasting room with colorful geometric patterns features 16 taps. You can snag full and half pours at the sleek bar, tables, or counter, plus growler fills to go.

I visited the tasting room between Halloween and Thanksgiving, prime pumpkin beer season. Thankfully, Shrago has the savvy to make sure his version doesn’t taste like a saccharine sweet pumpkin pie. Clear & Present Manger, a 9% ABV Imperial pumpkin ale, was far more nuanced. This punchy beer incorporated real pumpkin, fresh-ground spices, and a malty kick at the end that was nearly as thrilling as the finish to Harrison Ford’s namesake movie.
