Anthony Mangieri is chef-owner of New York City’s vaunted Una Pizza Napoletana. Acclaim for his pizza flair extends worldwide at this point. Last year, Italy’s 50 Top Pizza organization named his restaurant the Best Pizzeria in the World. The New York Times critic Pete Wells just rated Una Pizza Napoletana the #15 restaurant in New York City. He recently launched Genio Della Pizza, a frozen pizza line made with natural fermented, hand-stretched dough that’s wood-fired in Italy. Preeti Mistry was born in London, mainly raised in Ohio, and moved to San Francisco to study film at the New School of California. They soon became more interested in cooking and worked at restaurants in London and the Bay Area, eventually helming kitchens at the deYoung Museum in San Francisco and Google headquarters in Mountain View. They competed on “Top Chef” Season 6 before operating two influential East Bay restaurants with wife/partner Ann Nadeau: Juhu Beach Club in Oakland, which appeared on Anthony Bourdain’s TV show “Parts Unknown,” and Navi Kitchen in Emeryville. I recently met with two fellow New Jersey natives: celebrated Razza chef-owner Dan Richer and Rome based cookbook author and tour guide Katie Parla. They were in Los Angeles to promote their new cookbook, The Joy of Pizza, and we discussed pizza on the piazza behind Pizzeria Mozza, where Richer prepared a multi-course dinner that of course featured pizza. Healdsburg based J Vineyards & Winery has had female leadership since 1986, when Judy Jordan founded the business. J continues to have women in key positions and now spans six estates in Russian River Valley AVA. They’ve featured Nicole Hitchcock’s winemaking talents since 2015 and it’s paid dividends with delicious wines and Wine Enthusiast Magazine’s 2022 Winemaker of the Year award.
