Rich Alossi at Angelenic first reported on Crown Cafe in February 2008. Robert Kashefi finally plans to debut his contemporary coffee and panini concept on March 19 in the downtown Los Angeles historic core. Kashefi, a self-described crown lover said, “Downtown needs a coffee shop, where you can enjoy delicious coffee, panini sandwiches [and] pastries, with art and music.”
To attract loft dwellers, businesspeople and artists, Kashefi enlivened the former retail space with multi-color paint and accented columns. He said, “The store is full of Los Angeles artists that have the right pieces to make the cafe look just right. Buddha Bar music will be playing all day. Our seating arrangement is for fast and to-go customers or sit on our couches and have a drink with a friend.”
Crown Cafe will feature five kinds of panini sandwiches, including chicken, turkey or vegetable lavished with garlic pesto, basil and dried tomatoes, all with a choice of salad or chips. Baked goods will include chocolate cake, scones, red velvet cupcakes, cookies and apple cinnamon bars.
