Food Festival Los Angeles

L.A. Street Food Fest returns to the Rose Bowl for the second straight year.

On July 16, L.A. Street Food Fest founders Shawna Dawson and Sonja Rasula bring their gastronomic mega event back to the Rose Bowl, far from the vehicular chaos of Carmageddon that may very well immobilize the Westside. Better yet, the fest benefits Downtown Women’s Center, which has been providing housing, meals and job support to L.A. women for over three decades.

L.A. Street Food Fest tickets cost $60 apiece, but organizers generously donated a pair of passes for to Food GPS readers, to the “Family Fun Day” session that runs from 2 p.m. – 5 p.m on Saturday, July 16. To become eligible, just comment below and on two other Food GPS posts. I’ll announce two winners on Food GPS and Twitter by 3 p.m. on July 15.

JULY 15 UPDATE: Congratulations to Sylvia Yoo for winning L.A. Street Food Fest tickets.

The event will feature more than 60 vendors, including previews of a number of concepts like Japanese okonomiyaki and teppanyaki from the Glowfish truck, Korean mandoo and finger foods from Hansik, pierogies from Steel City Sandwich, Korean pastries and pourover coffee from IOTA, German currywurst from Currywurst, market-driven fare from Chef Christian Page/Tione’s Quality Meats, shaved ice from Ice Ice Shavie, ice cream from Mother Moo Creamery, and ice cream sandwiches from Batch From Scratch and Scoops Westside.

You’ll also find known-but-still-compelling entities like the TiGeorges’ Chicken, Grilled Cheese Truck, Mariscos Jalisco, Starry Kitchen, Mexicali Taco & Co. and Sabor de Bahia. Street Gourmet LA founder Bill Esparza also gathered some of the most exciting chefs from Baja, including Sabina Bandera of La Guerrerense, Benito Molina of Manzanilla and Javier Plascencia of Mision 19.

Organizers are providing free parking in the Rose Bowl lot, and if you take the Gold Line to Pasadena’s Memorial Park Station, they’re running a free shuttle every 30 minutes from 9:30 a.m. – 9:30 p.m. For more details, or to purchase tickets, Click Here.

Getting tix to this event would be the best way and probably the only way to get me out of the house this weekend. I had planned to stay home to avoid carmageddon but if I win tix, I would take advantage of the $4 jetblue fare from LB to Burbank and then take the Gold Line to the Rosebowl and then FLY back to the LBC! That would make for one awesome weekend.

I WOULD LOOOOOVE TO GO!

I was planning on doing a Gold line tour this weekend so this would be the perfect fun thing to do along the way! And, who doesn’t love a Food truck fest?!!

After 20 years of visiting the same taco truck in Eagle Rock, I found out that he, Leo, will be at the food fest. As a private chef and foodie, I just can’t wait…just need to run the bowl everyday until the 16th to make room for the great and maybe win some tickets.♥♥♥food, makes me ☺☺☺.

I just heard from friends who already bought their tickets that LA Food Fest organizers have canceled the 10am – 1pm session because of Carmageddon this weekend, but their website doesn’t indicate that…

Food trucks and picnic blankets under the stars, what could be better!

Doing the Irvine Mud Run on Sunday. What better way to prepare myself than to stuff myself with awesome street food.

I love Thrillist. They always tell me about the greatest things happening in and around these L.A. environs. Now, if I could JUST win tickets……..hint, hint…. 🙂

The line up for this event sounds amazing. It would be great to be able to win the passes so that a co-organizer of a foodie group on MeetUp.com and I can try out each vendor and see which ones we would love to host a formal meet-up event with our foodie group!
