Nick & Stef’s Steakhouse Hamburger

Hamburger Los Angeles

National Hamburger Month spans May, in case you didn’t know. To celebrate, Patina Group challenged their SoCal chefs to create the burger of their dreams. At Nick & Stef’s Steakhouse, a downtown restaurant that is about to reboot their design and menu after 15 years, executive chef Megan Logan went big for her last hurrah for awhile on Bunker Hill.

Logan’s Aged to Perfection Meltdown ($21) featured a seared patty crafted from aged Angus sirloin, Hook’s 10-year cheddar with good bite, sweet and savory bacon-onion jam, crispy wild mushrooms, roasted tomato, and rich, dripping bone marrow Bordelaise on a soft brioche bun. Bonus: the burger came with a stainless steel container of crispy garlic fries.

Since “Burgers, Bourbons, & Brews” was their theme of choice, Nick & Stef’s also offered a flight of Four Roses Single Barrel Bourbon or a frothy goblet of Chimay White, though I tread lightly, since it was only lunch and I’m not a “Mad Men” character.
