Luv2Eat Thai Bistro Pork Larb

Pork Los Angeles

At Luv2Eat Thai Bistro in Hollywood, Phuket natives Noree Pla and Fern Kaewtathip, previously with Hoy-Ka Thai Noodle, serve flavorful comfort food. The Cherokee Plaza space isn’t much to look at, with mismatched tables and chairs, light grey walls, and an oversized fork and spoon, but Luv2Eat was packed for Monday lunch, and most dishes delivered.

I enjoyed Luv2Eat’s Shrimp Paste Fried Rice and Phuket Style Crab Curry Kanomjean, but neither dish brought unadulterated porcine power as Grilled Pork Larb ($9.95). I still can’t figure out why they called this “larb,” considering that word traditionally implies minced meat, but I was still happy to down fatty char-grilled strips tossed with gritty rice powder, scallions, red onions, chiles and mint. The united ingredients arrived on a bed of lettuce with a container of sticky rice, which tempers the dish’s chile spice and traditionally doubles as a utensil.

Dose of Vitamin P spotlights my favorite pork dish from the previous week.
