Chef Ricardo Zarate and business partner Stephane Bombet joined Food GPS in welcoming some of Zarate’s fellow FOOD & WINE Best New Chefs to Marina del Rey to collaborate on two unique dinners and celebrate the opening of Zarate’s latest restaurant, Paichẽ. On March 26, Zarate teamed with Portland’s Naomi Pomeroy. On March 27, the contemporary Peruvian izakaya welcomed Boston’s Jamie Bissonnette, the 2011 FOOD & WINE People’s Best New Chef, a 2013 James Beard Award Finalist: Best Chef Northeast, and co-owner of Coppa enoteca and TORO tapas parlor; and Salt Lake City’s Viet Pham, a 2011 FOOD & WINE Best New Chef who co-founded Forage, defeated Bobby Flay on “Iron Chef America,” and reached the “Extreme Chef” finals. The evening also featured talented guest bartenders Marcos Tello and Aidan Demarest of Tello Demarest Liquid Assets, along with the Poppy Den’s April Simms, and Paichẽ bar manager Deysi Alvarez.
