Esters Wine Shop & Bar Bloody Mary

Bloody Mary Los Angeles

It wouldn’t be a “Boozy Brunch” without booze. Esters Wine Shop & Bar, the destination Santa Monica establishment from Kathryn Weil-Coker, husband Tug, and the Rustic Canyon Family of Restaurants, recently rolled out weekend brunch service. Esters is best known for their wine program, but they’ve also included several cocktails, including a wonderful Bloody Mary.

Bar manager Michael Croom is clearly a convert to the restaurant group’s commitment to seasonal California comfort. His Heirloom Tomato Bloody Mary ($12) combines house-squeezed heirloom tomato juice, a savory trio of bell, jalapeño and Anaheim peppers, spicy horseradish, fresh lime and lemon juices, punchy cornichon brine, cornichons, and local Aylesbury Duck vodka from The 86 Co. Atypical garnishes consist of a skewered Comté cube and spicy Calabrese salami.
