Don’t let the beer’s rosy pink color fool you. The Feminist, a Belgian-style tripel from Torrance’s Monkish Brewing, packs a punch at 9.4% ABV. The beer, which Spirit House Bar was pouring on the second floor of Monterey Park’s locally classic Lincoln Plaza Hotel, is another creation from Henry Nguyen that defies easy categorization. Still, the spiritual South Bay brewer managed to find balance at the bottom of a snifter, avoiding the pitfalls of malty sweetness and finishing each sip with a pleasant tartness.
