11 One Night Stands

Craft Beer Los Angeles

The NBA All-Star game is coming up on Valentine’s Day, but if you want a roster of SoCal brewery all-stars, look no further than the 11 breweries that will be featured in Beer Belly‘s One Night stand series.

ONS, as the series is called, is the classic tap-takeover. On the third Wednesday of each month, this K-Town venue from Jimmy and Yume Han becomes a de facto brewery taproom for a night. Plus, you will usually find the brewery folk in house as well to talk about their beer.

As if the beer (and food) were not incentive enough, there are two other bonuses. One, Beer Belly is close to a Metro stop so you can imbibe without worry about getting home. Two, if you go to each ONS and snap a selfie of yourself next to the front door signage with the name of the brewery for the night, you could become an exclusive member of the ONS Club and all the status that conveys.

Here is the list for 2016:
February – Arts District Brewing
March – Noble Ale Works
April – Beachwood Brewing
May – Three Weavers
June – Firestone Walker / Barrelworks
July – Monkish Brewing
August – Phantom Carriage
September – Modern Times
October – Highland Park Brewery
November – Smog City Brewing
December – The Bruery / Bruery Terreux

If what passes for winter in Los Angeles has got you down, the Beer of the Week should put you in a sunnier disposition. Sierra Nevada Brewing Company recently released their Beer Camp Tropical IPA. Sierra Nevada invites beer fans to their brewery nearly every week to collaborate on a recipe and create a new beer. This year, they are showcasing one of their favorites from 2015. According to the brewery, Beer Camp Tropical IPA features “intensely aromatic hop varietals rich with the flavors of the tropics. We use Citra, Mosaic and El Dorado hops to create bright fruit-forward flavors of mango, papaya and bitter orange.” It is a major tropical fruit bomb.

Speaking of Sierra Nevada, the brewery is hosting their second Beer Camp Across America festival tour this June and after stops in Tampa, Fla., Seattle, Milwaukee, San Francisco and Boston they will land right here in Los Angeles. This will be your opportunity t9o sample “six limited edition collaboration beers – each one created by a different regional team of five breweries alongside Sierra Nevada.” Mark your calendars for June 25!
